Before the boss spawns summon your necromancy souls. To do this just swap to a mana set and the hold your Atomsplit, then quickly switch to ring and summon. Also the strategy I use to heal is use atonement, switch to Atomsplit. Then when Atomsplit ability ends switch to wand and to Atomsplit and use ability again.
The 20% reduced dmg takes into effect as a multiplier (which means it's weighted a lot!). So yea 20% less dmg is helpful. Tip 2: Make sure you have withered on your atomsplit. That extra 130ish str (which turns into defense bc baby yeti) is massive.
