(a) There is hereby created a body politic and corporate to be known as the Kansas guardianship program, a partnership involving the state of Kansas and its citizen volunteers to assist certain adults legally determined to be unable to manage for themselves. The Kansas guardianship program is hereby constituted Guardians or conservators, who receive training and support from the Kansas Guardianship Program, advocate for and protect the rights of these individuals. In fiscal year 2020, 775 volunteers provided guardianship or conservatorship services for 1,387 individuals. A seven-member board governs the statewide program, based in Manhattan.
